The Centre is located close to Batley Town centre.
We have car parking for up to 24 cars including two disabled parking spaces, but please bear in mind that you may not be the only user of the Centre at the time. There is also a small public car park a couple of minutes walk away. If you have to park on surrounding streets, please be considerate of our neighbours. Batley Bus station is approximately 5 minutes walk away.
The Centre is equipped with free wifi with access throughout the building.
The Batley Community Centre is run by a not for profit, registered charity, that has been serving the local community throughout Batley for over 60 years. We celebrated our 60th birthday in 2023.
The Centre is used on a weekly basis by a number of groups which are open to new members. These include, but are not limited to, dance groups, art classes, keep fit, Weight Watchers and a lunch club. Several of the activities are run to tackle loneliness and isolation in people over 50 through locally recruited volunteers, but the Centre is available for use people of all ages.
We rent rooms for weekly groups, and one time rentals for private functions like birthday parties and anniversaries. The centre is also available for corporate events at very competitive rates.
About UsThe Group operates on a drop-in basis and has a volunteer member of staff available to act as advisor and helper.
Access available to the main genealogical web sites and help available to use them. Sites include Ancestry, Find My Past, Census Returns and local Baptism, Marriage and Burial Records.
Anyone over the age of 4 can join us, including adults. We encourage family training and any adult training with a child can train for free for 6 months. Adults without children are also very welcome.
We offer 4 free lessons to anyone who wants to give us a go and then following that it is £5 a lesson. We are pay as you go and there is no monthly subscription.
